If you’re a parent in the midst of summer, you might be hard-pressed to find time to get out of the house, with the children free from the clutches of school. Going out is made even less attractive when one takes into consideration finances. With a few children in tow, eating out starts to get expensive.
Luckily many restaurants realize the struggles of parents when it comes to getting an outing together, and some have tried to make it easier – or more tempting.
The restaurants listed below offer either kids eat free days, or deals that are hard to pass up!
Perhaps without having to worry about the cost of going out for a family dinner, you’ll have more motivation to get everyone together and out the door.
1. TGI Fridays
Although it varies by location, TGI Fridays offers Kids Eat Free days on Mondays or Tuesdays. The atmosphere is for casual dining, so no need to worry about getting all done up to go out.
The chain can be found along the east coast and has a kid’s menu featuring chicken, mac n cheese, sliders, and vegetable sides.
2. Buffalo Wild Wings
With roughly 1,200 locations throughout the United States, Buffalo Wild Wings almost always advertises itself as a place where the more mature crowd can gather for a beer, meal, and to watch the game.
But that shouldn’t hold back those who have kids tagging along, and to make things easier for their customers Buffalo Wild Wings offers a kids menu for those twelve and under priced at just 99 cents.
The menu is a bit sparse, with both boneless and bone in wings, cheeseburgers, and grilled chicken. All choices are served with fries and a soft drink or milk.
3. Texas Roadhouse
This restaurant offers American cuisine centered around chicken, steak, seafood, and ribs. Locations stretch from Ohio to Florida and Texas, as well as internationally.
For kids, Texas Roadhouse offers Kids Eat Free (12 and under) hours from 4-9pm. On the kid’s menu you’ll find a surprising range of items from steak bites to ribs, with sides of applesauce, green beans, a vegetable mix, mashed potatoes, and fries.
Before you write this location off the list, take this into consideration: Kids eat free from 11am to 11pm.
The concept of the restaurant might be outdated, but changes are being made after many locations have had to be shut down due to the lack of customer interest. Maybe their Kids Eat Free deal is a way to try and lure the market back their way – why not take advantage of it?
The kid’s menu offers up boneless wings, chicken strips, sliders, and grilled cheese.
*Call ahead and make sure your franchise location honors these hours! Some locations may offer one day only deals.
Location days and hours may vary, but Denny’s offers two free kid’s entrees on Tuesdays from 7-10pm with the purchase of an adult entrée as well. It’s dine-in only, so don’t think you’ll be ordering takeaway.
Kids have a dizzying choice of options, including pancakes, pasta, sundaes, milk shakes, corn dogs, and more.
6. Ruby Tuesday
On Tuesdays from 5pm to close, kids eat free!
For every adult entrée purchased, you can order a kid’s entrée as well. The franchise exists mainly on the east coast with a few mid-west locations.
Kids can order from the garden bar, pizzas, chicken tenders, popcorn shrimp, and ice cream.
7. Famous Dave’s
Famous Dave’s is an American-style restaurant centered around BBQ, located mainly in the mid-west.
For every purchase of an adult entrée, one child under the age of 8 gets a kid’s meal consisting of a main dish, drink, side, and Oreos. Their “Lil’ Wilbur Meals” offer various chicken dishes, ribs, chopped pork, and more.
This much-loved restaurant offers kids eat free days on various days of the week; check with your local Ihop for the exact days, though they usually seem to be Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The same rule applies to similar deals – one free kid’s meal per adult entrée ordered, available from 4-10pm.
The kid’s menu is extensive, with items such as burgers, shakes, crepes, pancakes and more.
9. Golden Corral
Golden Corral restaurants feature all-you-can eat, family-style meals. Kids under 3 eat free between 5 and 9pm. Children under 10 eat for only $5.99.
10. On the Border
Switching things up a bit, On the Border offers Tex-Mex style dishes. They have locations in the US and recently opened in South Korea as well.
Although kids don’t eat free here, they do get a free sundae with any meal. Kids can choose from enchiladas, various tacos, nachos, and quesadillas. All items are priced at under $7.
